5 Ways to Make the Most of an Audio Visual Solution

An alternative and powerful way to improve your business performance or academic results, is through an audio visual solution that has great sound quality, high-definition video, and easy setup. Whether you are a school or college or a venue or office-based business, the options of a suitable AV system to help you achieve your goals, are plentiful.

So to help you make the decision that’s right for you, let’s dive in to the 5 fundamental steps that go into choosing the right system;

1. Choose the Right Size System

If you’re looking for a smaller solution, consider a screen such as a commercial TV or an interactive flat panel. A screen is ideal for smaller rooms, where space is limited. The sizes start at 55inch and go right up to 98inches. Interactive screens are now prevalent in most classrooms and have superseded the board/projector solution. This is because they are great for presentations and enable greater student engagement through the interactive functions of the screens. They also require very little in the way of connection to a laptop as most come with an inbuilt operating system. Meeting rooms and conference venues are also opting for screen solutions for the simplicity of use and lifespan.

However, if you need something larger, consider a projector/electric screen solution. They are ideal for halls and meeting rooms as you can achieve a bigger image on a retractable screen. To achieve the same sized image on a commercial TV screen, you would need to explore the option of a video wall (multiscreen solution) which would prove far more costly.

Projectors also range in their brightness, meaning it is not always necessary to block out any light coming into the room. This saves on the cost of black out blinds.

Alternatively, a large-screen TV will offer excellent picture quality and sound and are ideal for displaying news feeds, digital signage or for simply watching movies.

2. Find the Right Features

You should choose an AV system based on its features. Here are some things to keep in mind when shopping for an audio visual solution:

• Size – How big do you need it to be? Do you need a large screen or a projector? A screen that looks large in a smaller room, may appear lost in a larger room.
• Sound – Does the system come with speakers? If so, how loud will they be?
• Presentation – How will your content be shared?
• Microphones – Is your room large enough to require the use of a mic solution? If so, would you like a wireless handheld mic or a lapel mic or both?
• Lighting – For larger halls or auditoriums trying to create an atmosphere.

3. Decide Whether You Need a Networked or Standalone System

A networked AV system connects to the LAN either via a hard wired or wireless connection and allows remote connectivity. It also provides access to additional online features, such as the ability to control multiple screens remotely as well as audio/video streaming and apps.

Standalone systems, on the other hand, only allow one device at a time to connect to the system. They usually provide fewer features than networked systems, but they are easier to set up and operate.

4. Select the Best Location

Before purchasing an audio visual solution, consider where you will use it.  What kind of room is the system going into? What is it being used for?

For example, does it incorporate video conferencing? If so, the screen will need to be positioned in line with the camera.

What’s the best positioning of the screen, taking into account the seating of the room?

Is the wall, the screen is being mounted onto strong enough to take the weight of the screen?

All these things need to be considered so that the right decisions can be made with regard to the correct equipment and infrastructure.

5. Install the System Properly

A properly installed audio visual solution should work well with other equipment in your organisation. It should also be easy to set up and operate. For large scale audio solutions, we would highly suggest a professional installation as it may require some additional cabling to facilitate the solution.
