When Kim James, Network Manager at Roundwood Primary School, reached out to us, she was feeling frustrated with the school’s old sound setup.
The amplifier was unreliable, and because it was positioned within reach, children often tampered with the controls. As a result, every time someone tried to use the hall for an assembly or event, the sound system wouldn’t work properly.
To make matters worse, Bluetooth signals from parents’ phones frequently interfered with the audio, disrupting assemblies and performances.
Kim needed a complete sound system installation that was reliable, easy for staff to operate, and secure enough to prevent unwanted adjustments or disconnections.
With our expertise in school hall, theatre, and auditorium AV, we understood exactly what the school needed and created a solution that transformed their space.
To enhance the hall’s audio experience, we completed a comprehensive sound system installation using a combination of existing and upgraded equipment.
Upgraded Audio Coverage
The existing rear and single loudspeaker were retained, while an additional FBT Maxx 4v loudspeaker was installed at the front of the hall to deliver balanced sound coverage throughout the space. All speakers are powered by an Ecler two-channel amplifier, ensuring clear and consistent performance for a variety of uses, from assemblies to events.
Simple and Accessible Controls
As part of the sound system installation, control was made simple and accessible. A Cloud CX 462 mixer, paired with a wall-mounted remote control panel near the HDMI presentation area, allows staff to easily adjust the volume and switch between audio sources without needing to open the equipment cabinet.
Neat and Secure Equipment Setup
All audio hardware is securely housed in a 6U wall-mounted cabinet in the music room. We also added a 3.5mm stereo connection plate, providing flexible plug-and-play access for external devices.
Integrated PC and Connectivity Upgrades
During the sound system installation, the existing PC was relocated to the cabinet and connected to a wireless keyboard for convenient operation. To improve visual quality, a 15m fibre optic HDMI cable was installed from the PC to the projector, replacing the older VGA setup. A second HDMI cable was also run from the presentation area to the projector for added flexibility.
Power and Display Enhancements
Power to the audio cabinet is now controlled via a wall-mounted fused spur, allowing the system to be turned on and off with ease. The existing monitor was repositioned on the wall above its original location and reconnected to the PC to complete the setup.
A Reliable and User-Friendly Solution
This sound system installation has significantly improved both the audio quality and ease of use in the hall, providing a reliable and user-friendly solution for everyday use and special events.
This project at Roundwood Primary School shows how the right sound system installation can make a huge difference, transforming unreliable, hard-to-manage equipment into a dependable and easy-to-use setup for staff and students alike. Whether it’s for assemblies, performances, or school events, the new system delivers clear, consistent audio every time.
