Verulam School approached us to deliver a complete power, containment and Cat6 installation, along with new desks to upgrade their ICT suite classrooms. This included;
Supply and installation of modular benching with integrated cable management.
Replacement of existing containment with new 3-compartment MK Prestige dado trunking.
Power and Cat6 network data outlets for student and teacher workstations.
Provision of new L-shaped teacher desks in both rooms.
Our aim was to create modern, practical, and future-ready ICT classrooms that give both students and staff the reliable workspace they need.
The LRC classroom was completely refitted with a modern, practical setup designed for both functionality and durability:
Modular Benching: Installed with melamine-coated tops (colour chosen by the school), 600mm deep, with a robust steel frame. Each student has approximately 700mm of working space, and integrated cable management troughs keep workstations tidy and safe.
Teacher’s Desk: A new L-shaped teacher’s desk was installed, giving staff a comfortable and efficient workspace.
Power & Data Infrastructure:
Cat6 installation of 17 double network outlets installed – 16 for student use and 1 for the teacher’s desk.
34 new double switched power sockets – 32 for student workstations and 2 for the teacher’s desk.
Trunking Upgrade: New perimeter MK Prestige 3-compartment dado trunking was fitted to replace the old system, offering a neat and effective solution for housing power and data cabling.
Electrical Works: The existing power pole was removed, and the light switch repositioned for a cleaner finish.
These upgrades have transformed the LRC into a modern ICT learning environment, ensuring students and staff benefit from a safe, organised, and future-ready classroom.
In Classroom 40, we focused on reconfiguring and upgrading existing infrastructure to make the most of available resources while enhancing functionality:
Benching & Layout:
The two dwarf walls were removed, and their benching repurposed to form a new rear wall bench, complete with new battening for support.
Existing bench legs were reused and fitted into floor-mounted flanges for extra stability.
Dado Trunking: Some of the existing 3-compartment dado trunking from the dwarf walls was repurposed for the rear wall, ensuring efficient use of materials.
Power & Data:
Cat6 installation of 5 new double network outlets installed, linked back to the room’s existing network cabinet.
10 new double switched power sockets added to the rear wall.
All existing floor outlets re-terminated with fresh outlets and plates.
Floor Boxes: At the locations of the old dwarf walls, new 3-compartment floor boxes were installed, each containing 6 data outlets and 2 double switched sockets.
Teacher’s Desk: A brand-new L-shaped teacher’s desk (1600 x 1200mm) was supplied and installed.
This work has given Classroom 40 a more open, flexible layout, with modernised power and data access that supports today’s ICT needs.
The completed project at Verulam School has delivered two high-quality, fully functional ICT learning spaces. By combining new Cat6 installations with the clever repurposing of existing infrastructure, we’ve created an efficient and cost-effective solution tailored to the school’s needs.
The result? A pair of ICT suites that not only look smart but are built to support reliable teaching, learning, and digital skills development for years to come.
