The Totteridge Academy required a lockdown system that would provide fast, reliable communication in the event of an emergency.
While safety was the primary objective, the school also wanted the solution to serve as a public address (PA) system for daily announcements and background music.
We designed and installed a comprehensive, multi-purpose audio solution that integrates seamlessly into their safeguarding procedures.
The system we installed includes but is not limited to, 85 loudspeakers, 13 hornspeakers (internal and external), Ecler Mimo audio matrix control unit, 16-zone paging station, 6 audio amplifiers and a streaming & media player for pre-recorded announcements and music.
The school needed a lockdown system that could:
The lockdown system uses pre-recorded audio messages to support fast, calm, and consistent communication during an emergency.
Staff press a dedicated button to trigger the message: “Lockdown, lockdown”.
This message loops continuously until the button is pressed again.
The automated nature of the announcement removes the pressure of speaking live during a stressful situation.
A separate button plays an all-clear message.
This message also loops until staff manually stop it.
This ensures the lockdown system provides clear, unambiguous instructions at every stage of the emergency procedure.
