West Lodge Primary School required a more effective way to monitor and protect its site. Existing cameras were outdated, some were no longer working, and coverage around entrances and outdoor areas was limited. This made it difficult for staff to clearly see who was on site, particularly outside normal school hours.
The school wanted to improve safeguarding, deter unauthorised access, and ensure staff had confidence in the reliability of their CCTV system without making it complicated to use or disruptive to install. We delivered a tailored CCTV installation upgrade designed to significantly strengthen the school’s security while making use of existing infrastructure where possible.
The whole project consisted of the supply and installation of 6 x Hikvision 4MP 2.8mm lens IP cameras with full 24/7 colour and hybrid light for intruder deterrence.
A new central recording system was installed in the same location as the previous unit, ensuring continuity while enabling the system to support modern and future camera technology. This provided the school with a reliable foundation for long-term site security.
We upgraded and added the Hikvision 4MP 2.8mm lens IP cameras high-definition cameras to cover key entrances, walkways, and external areas. The clear, full-colour images, provided by the cameras, day and night, has dramatically improved visibility, making it much easier for staff to identify people, vehicles, and activity on site.
Integrated lighting on selected cameras now provides an immediate visual deterrent, helping to discourage trespassing and anti-social behaviour after hours.
All cabling was installed discreetly using external-grade materials, keeping the school environment tidy and safe.

Optional Security Enhancements
To further strengthen protection across the site, additional options were provided, including improved camera positioning, expanded coverage in previously unseen areas, secure wireless connectivity between buildings, and enhanced network capacity in the school office. These options allow the school to continue building on their security investment as needed.
Following installation, the system was fully tested and demonstrated to staff, ensuring they were comfortable using it. Secure remote access was also configured, allowing authorised users to check live or recorded footage from a PC when required.
