In celebration of the 150th anniversary of St George’s College, a brand new Activity Centre has been built to transform the sports facilities at the school.
They came to us to help them maximise the space in the new building and help create a more accessible and engaging space with the use of digital signage and display screens. The school wanted to be able to display school announcements, newsfeeds and also important notices.
Another requirement was for the installation of a complehensive presentation system with a projector and screen solution. A specific condition of this was the need to be able to combat the volume of ambient daylight coming in through the windows.
Following their brief, we designed and built an audio visual presentation solution to reflect the dynamic tone of the new build and provide facilities for it’s dual use as a centre for whole school gatherings, community activities and exhibitions.
As shown in the image opposite, the first audio visual presentation solution we integrated for the school, consisted of a new Epson EB-G7900U 7000 lumen WUXGA projector and long throw lens, which has been mounted onto the rear wall to project onto a new 3m 16:10 electric projection screen mounted on a stand-off.
We also enhanced the audio of the centre by installing 2 x Ecler Verso 8P powered speakers at the rear of the hall, one either side of the projector. These have been fed from the audio output of the projector.
A Cat6 HD Base-T connection was run from the projector to the presentation point where it was presented on a Cat6 outlet. An Atlona Juno HD Base-T transmitter has also been supplied.
To make it super accessible, a trigger has been installed to the projector allowing the screen to drop automatically when the projector is turned on. This will also retract when the projector is switched off.
Another large element of the supply of this audio visual presentation solution in various areas throughout the new activity centre included the installation of 9 x 55″ flat screen TVs for multiple usage. The screens will be used for digital signage and display solutions in the exhibition centre.
In addition to this, we provided all the Cat6 cabling for each of the screens, the projector and speakers. All AV plates included HDMI, VGA and USB.
Boasting an additional sports hall, dance studios and hospitality area, the audio visual presentation solution has brought the area to life.
Not only does the school have an array of new state of the art sports facilities to offer it’s students for the enjoyment of their chosen acitivities, but it also offers the opportunity for an additional income stream for the school through the hiring out of the facilities.
The projector and screen solution can be used for meetings and events and the digital signage can also be used to advertise the services of local businesses during these events.
